Our Denver Organic Mattress Showroom Through the Years

For nearly two decades, The Natural Sleep Store has been Denver's home for organic mattresses, natural bedding, and chemical-free sleep. What started as a single mattress in a small Fort Collins space has grown into a beloved Capitol Hill showroom serving customers across Colorado and the country. Here's how we got here.

Starting The Natural Sleep Store in 2005

I started The Natural Sleep Store in 2005. At the time, organic mattress stores were rare, but demand was growing. Just out of grad school, I didn't want to go into academia, instead choosing to stay home with my daughter. Because of this, I had initially envisioned The Natural Sleep Store as online-only.

However, I was soon fielding requests from my Colorado customers to feel our organic mattresses in person before purchasing. And so despite only selling one mattress at the time, Savvy Rest, I rented a small space in Fort Collins and put a single mattress on display.

Our First Fort Collins Showroom

Savvy Rest mattresses have split firmness levels between the two sides of the mattress, meaning customers had the opportunity to feel what an organic latex mattress in two different firmness levels would feel like. Once customers had the chance to test the mattress for themselves, it became apparent very quickly that they wanted more.

We soon upgraded to a new, larger Fort Collins showroom that had the capacity for multiple mattresses. It was around this time that our team grew to include Andy. By this point, because we were the only organic mattress showroom in Colorado, many of our customers were driving up from Denver just to try them out.

Expanding to Denver in 2007

Since Andy and his family were planning a move to Denver, we decided it was the perfect time to expand the business. We found our spot at 928 W. 8th Ave. in 2007 and have been thriving in Denver ever since. The space gave us plenty of room to display mattresses and bedding, and let us offer Denver-area customers delivery and white-glove setup services they couldn't get anywhere else.

A New Home in Capitol Hill

After renting for 15 years, we recently decided it was time to look for a place to buy. Located in vibrant, bustling Capitol Hill, with plenty of foot traffic and housed in a gorgeous historic home, the 913 Corona St. showroom is the culmination of almost two decades of The Natural Sleep Store.

Our original plan was to take the place of the existing businesses within the building, A Pet's Paradise (a natural pet food store) and Quantum Alchemy (a metaphysical store). But we decided instead to purchase both from the existing owners and continue running them alongside our own showroom. The second floor, previously a private residence, has now been converted into our current organic mattress and bedding showroom, featuring many brands of organic mattresses and bedding including Harvest Green, Bella Sera, TFS Honest Sleep, and many more.
